This fascinating project, described by the judges as 'a champion for progressive conservation, inventive reuse and adaptation of existing fabric', reveals one of the greatest stories of the Age of Sail and marks the first time a Skelly & Couch project has been shortlisted for UK architecture's most prestigious prize. 

Works comprised the preservation, display and interpretation of the Namur, 'the ship beneath the floor' uncovered by chance in 1995. The extent of the remains was hailed at the time as the most significant naval archaeological discovery since that of the Mary Rose. 

The winner from the shortlist of six will be announced on Tuesday 31 October at the Roundhouse in Camden, north London.
