Churchill Day House, St John’s School
A new Day House for St John’s Independent School in Leatherhead, Surrey. The building is one of a number of projects Skelly & Couch have worked on for the school as part of its delivery of a five-year masterplan for the campus. It was delivered along with the conversion and refurbishment of an existing historic stable building into a 6th Form Centre under a phased construction programme.
The building included Junior and Senior Day Rooms, study rooms, an ICT room and changing and shower facilities. A photovoltaic array was installed to the southern roof elevation to enable a 10% CO2 emission reduction for the Day House, 6th Form Centre and Chapel extension buildings as part of the planning conditions for these projects. An enabling works phase was carried out to divert existing IT and statutory services and maintain existing shower and changing rooms attached to the 6th Form Centre building.
Skelly & Couch were appointed to provide full M&E, environmental, acoustic and co-ordination design services.
